Lombok Island is one of the famous island in Indonesia. The position of the island is near on the Bali Island. Lombok Island and Sumbawa Island have many culture, from the art from drum, art from cloth and many more. Here, i will be explained something that will make you interest to visit LOMBOK ISLAND and SUMBAWA ISLAND.
Gendang Beleq ( Big Drum)
Gendang Beleq is one of the traditional Lombok Dance, why? Because the music tools used as the follower in this dance that cosist of 2 big drum which have bigger size than an usual drum and used as the property of the dance. Beside Gendang Beleq Dance, this dance is called as KECODAK DANCE and ONCER DANCE.
The dancer consist of 2 dancer of Gendang Beleq, 4/6 dancer of COPEH/ONCER (called like this because the dancer si go dancing with hold the music tolls Copeh which sometime played follow the music rhythm) and 1 dancer PETUK ( bring the music PETUK that played follow the music rhythm).
The presentation is devided by 3 part :
1. First part, danced by the Oncer, Gendang and Petuk Dancer. This part mean of departure view of the soldier whom gone to the war.
2. Second part, danced by the Petuk Dancer with a fun move. It just for laugh.
3. Third part, danced by Oncer, Gendang and Petuk Dancer. This part mean of the war is over.
The other music tools is used to supporting this dance, it is ceng-ceng, suling, rincik, gong, reong, and small gendang (drum). From the history, one upon a time Gendang Beleq showed in a party kingdom for follow the soldier whom go to the war or come form war.
In the progress, today it used to welcome the guest and has structure as :
1. Started with the come of 2 Gendang Dancer, this dance is so good and dinamic.
2. Then come 4/6 dancer, while the Gendang Dancer take the position in left and right as the background
3. Oncer Dancer take a sit position and sing Pampang Paoq Song.
4. In the end of the Oncer Dance go out with the Gendang Dance.
Gendang Beleq dance use ¾ clothes, clothes with a ong hand, belt, ¾ cloth, head belt, then the ONCER DANCER used ¾ pants like the gendang beleq dance with the chest decoration.
